Will I remain Consistent this year?
My Speech for RTP Power Speakers Toastmasters Club Contest, February 2022
Thank you Contest Chair.
Respected judges, fellow toastmasters and guests. Good evening!
Earlier this year, I gave a speech on Consistency and Networking, the two key words for me in 2022.
Today, I am going to take you on a journey of one of those keywords, i.e. Consistency.
Participating in this club contest is an effort to remain Consistent. You may ask, how? Whenever I sign up for a prepared speech in club meetings, I always tell myself that I will prepare for the speech well in advance, and almost always fail to do so. Most of the time, I come up with a speech around 30 minutes to an hour before the meeting. But this time, I wanted to change — to make sure that I prepare in advance and keep that momentum for upcoming speeches as well.
Personally, I have realized that over the years, I have not been consistent in completing the tasks, like the one I mentioned just now, needed to achieve certain goals that I set out every new year.
I have realized that sometimes I tend to try out a lot of things, which in itself is not bad since it gives me exposure to new things. But since I don’t do it for a certain period of time, I do not get the full benefit out of it. So this year, I want to narrow down on certain tasks and habits. I want to keep things simple, but keep them consistent.
